Sue and Ernest's wedding hands down is one of my favorite weddings from this year! Not only was it the first time Everly Event's got to do a destination wedding in Hawaii, but it was one of the most joyous occasions I have ever witnessed, and the bride's smile just says it all. I had the pleasure of knowing Sue for quite some time now (early high school days!), so I was honored when she asked me to help plan her big day. What started out as planning a large reception and party here in California, quickly turned into a small, intimate affair in Oahu (2,500 miles away!) after Sue and Ernest realized they wanted something small, unique, and unforgettable...and thus the destination wedding planning began!
The wedding took place at a gorgeous private estate on the North Shore of Oahu where Sue and Ernest invited their close friends and family to stay with them the days leading up to the wedding. Island life can so unpredictable, especially the weather, so we made sure to cover all of our basis, including rent a beautiful tent and making sure we had a back-up plan for the ceremony should the rain clouds decide to show up on the day of the wedding. The rain did end up showing up for just a bit on the day of the wedding, but just enough for us to get those amazing shots out in the fresh rain, and then the clouds departed just in time for the ceremony to begin. It was a beautiful ceremony led by Ernest's sister, followed by an intimate cocktail hour, and a beautiful reception under the stars with a luau themed dinner. Highlights definitely included Sue's beautiful, free-flowing wedding dress adorned with feathers, to the tropical flowers that were all foraged from local gardens. And of course, the amazing tent really brought the entire wedding together. Thank you to tall of the amazing vendors from Oahu for making this wedding happen, we really cannot wait until we have another opportunity to go to Hawaii for another wedding. Enjoy the beautiful photos shot by the talented Lehua Noelle and re-live the wedding day!
